I built this dress for a client to wear to the Regency Ball. This is a very simple gown made of silk dupioni. It has a square neckline with a bit of decorative net as a modesty piece. The same net is used at the sleeves and there is a wine colored pleated ribbon trim around the waist and sleeves. While the cut of the dress is fairly accurate to the first decade of the 1800s, the fabric is not. Back then they would have used more flowing and drapey fabrics.
