This dress is in no way period accurate. It sort of suggests mid-Victorian. I built it for myself to wear to the Dickens Fair. The top is made of an embroidered rayon and uses white lace trim and white bias tape at the neck, hem, and sleeves. The skirt is made of a linen/rayon blend and is built with drawstrings behind each seam to create the swagging effect. The drawstrings can be tightened all the way to the waist or loosened so the skirt hangs flat. The skirt is cut longer in the back so that it has a slight train when the drawstrings are loose.
